The Data Behind ShredShox: Measuring Impact Reduction on the Mountain

We mounted precision accelerometers to both the ski and the ShredShox platform to quantify exactly how much impact force the suspension takes out of your day.

Objective

To quantify the performance of the ShredShox full-suspension ski platform in reducing impact forces during skiing, using precision measurements from WIT Motion accelerometers mounted on both the ski and the ShredShox platform.

How We Measured It

We used WIT Motion accelerometers capable of capturing high-frequency impact data, mounted in two locations so we could compare forces before and after the suspension does its work:

  • On the ski - attached directly to the ski base to measure raw terrain impact forces.
  • On the ShredShox platform - mounted to capture the forces that remain after suspension absorption.

The difference between those two readings is the force the platform removes before it ever reaches the skier.

What We Found

Impact absorption. Across mixed terrain, the ShredShox platform consistently delivered superior impact reduction - an average of 85.1% less force reaching the skier, and as much as 1189% reduction in extreme, peak-impact moments. That translates directly into better comfort and control as conditions change.

Skiability. Less force meant less physical strain. With an average heart rate of 103 bpm and a max of 162 bpm across the session, the data backs up what riders feel: you can sustain performance longer and ski with less fatigue.

Conclusion

This data validates ShredShox as the only full-suspension ski platform capable of reducing skier impact forces by an average of 85.1%, with peak reductions reaching 1189%. The findings highlight its revolutionary potential to improve the skiing experience across varied terrain - from the back bowls to the frontside.

The feeling has a number now. Several, actually.
